What is happening here

The pattern belongs
to the conditions.

Two concentrations react and diffuse across a grid. One material is replenished; the other consumes it. Each location responds only to its neighbours. The larger form emerges from those exchanges.

Membrane, Division and Flow use different rates and starting structures. Flow also favours diffusion along one axis and adds slow transport. The light and contour lines come from the computed concentrations.

This is a mathematical study using the Gray–Scott model, computed locally in your browser. Reset returns to the same starting conditions, so you can compare the consequences of different interventions.
